Painting Pebbles 

This is the images from the workshop i did with the children at the "Colourful women's Network" where i collected lots of different types of pebbles and took them along for the children to decorate.
The them of the pebbles was "Things" and "Creatures" with goggly eyes and funny faces this is what they created.

And they all did a fantastic job! so proud of them and love the out come.

I have been recently doing workshops with women and children at Pentreth as part of the colourful womens network. I have been volentering with this group for a while, I started when i finished my MA and have been doing at least one workshop a week ever since.

as I have been so busy with the workshops I have neglected putting posts up on my blog about what I have been doing since my MA show. . . . . .

 VJ ing Workshop for summer schools

VJ ing workshop The term "video jockey" is a derivative of the term "disc jockey", "DJ" (deejay) as used in radio. The term was popularised in the 1980s by the music teliveishion network MTV.

A VJ is a Performance artist  who creates moving visual art (often video) on large displays or screens, often at events such as concerts , nightclubs and music festivals, and usually in conjunction with other performance art. This results in a live, Multimedia  performance that can include music, actors or dancers as well as live and pre-recorded video

All the students were shown a documentary  on V J ing and was shown exactly what and how to create a image and a set. They were split up in to small groups some did some dance workshops to be projected in to the visuals and other controlled the music and the visuals from the VJ ing desk.

Hands of knowledge

Hands of knowledge are simple, on a piece of paper draw around your hands. In the inside of the hands write and draw all things which are important to you, things that you know, and things that you like. This could be anything such as, your favourite game, place, person, lesson, music, possession. It could be things which you are good at, things that you have learnt, important people such as friends or family, or someone famous; so everything about you now. Then on the out side all the things which you would like to achieve, this could be as extreme as becoming an astronaut, swimming around the world or even just as simple as coming back here next year. Decorate and colour them to illustrate you and who you are, write enough to show who you are now and what you would like to achieve in the future.

Work Experience and Workshops

Over the last 4 months I have been doing work experience with the schools project coordinator working with the university college Falmouth.

I helped with the arranging and helping with the organisation of summer schools which is a project set up by Aim-Higher, finding ways to inspire young adults to consider higher education. One of the things that I had to do was to organise and run a workshops, from the initial idea for the workshop and then running the workshop. I also organised the preparation of photography, printing and reflective workshops as well as running them. I gave talks about my work, higher education, issues such as student life, study, UCAS application process and related topics and creating discussions talking about why people go to university with both current students and young adults.

Through my experience of summer schools I have learnt a great deal through working with my piers but also through realising just how important the future is for the young adult's we engage with. "It has made me see and understand just what drives me, which is helping the educational growth of others."

I would really welcome the opportunity to continue to work within a project that aims to engage in active development in a worthy way. "I am inspired and driven by the desire to make the world we experience a considered and well nurtured one, I believe that the best way to do this is through the engagement of people, community, and education and with that, the development of the generation of tomorrow"

here are some examples of some of the photography workshops that I have been organising with local schools in and around Falmouth and Penryn as well as the wider south west region.

This is the first workshop that I took part in , it was in Ilfucombe with year nine girls, talking about their options and the possabilities of higher education. The work shop was to all do a spider diagram of themselves and all around the edge they had to dec orate the things about themselves and things which they would like to achieve. then in tern we would all talk through what we have wrote and why.

This is the first of the photography work shop's that I had arranged and delivered to Penryn school, they asked for a series of workshops on photography around the theam of movement for there year 9njust thinking about what choices to make.
so I started with a Chemogrames workshop which aloud the school children to see how the light reactive paper and the dark room chemicals work.
For the Chemogrames they had to go and find a series of different textures from out side such as leaves ectc, then they dunk them into the different chemicals and posses them through the dark room chemicals as if it was an image.

Photographic Images

The photographic images workshop was to look at other ways which looks at creating the photographic image so i have started with Photograms and Chemograms.

Photogram A photogram is a Photographic image made without a camera by placing objects directly onto the surface of a photo-sensitive material such as photographic paper and then exposing it to light. The result is a negative shadow image varying in tone, depending on the transparency of the objects used. Areas of the paper that have received no light appear white; those exposed through transparent or semi-transparent objects appear grey.




Chemograms A chemogram is a variation of the photogram it involves applying chemicals to photographic paper. There are many different ways of creating a chemogram; Painting with the chemicals, dipping and drizzling the chemicals or printing textures on to the photographic paper. As soon as the photographic paper is exposed to light or the chemicals the paper starts to change and develop in to browns, yellows and gray's.
